Learning Goals, Objectives and Standards
With this lesson my students will learn the importance of past photographers and their influence. They will also learn about style, specifically identifying the style used in known photographers work and how they can emulate that style in their own work.

- Using a digital camera, students will be able to capture 15 different images emulating a known photographer’s style to create an interesting photo. - Given Photoshop program, students will be able to follow all of the necessary steps to edit a photo successfully. (Bloom’s: Applying, Standard: Create, GLE: Demonstrate competency in traditional and new art media, and apply appropriate and available technology for the expression of ideas, Art Learning: materials/techniques, Numeracy: Sequence of steps, Technology)
- Given materials, students will be able to create a print of their best photo relating to the assignment and mount it correctly. (Bloom’s: Applying/create, Standard: Create, GLE: Assess and produce art with various materials and methods, Art Learning: materials/techniques, Numeracy: Sequence of steps)
- Using research, students will be able to create a PowerPoint or Prezi presentation displaying what they learned from the research they did on a known photographer from the given list. (Bloom’s: Evaluate, Standard: Comprehend GLE: Historical and cultural context are found in visual art, Art Learning: historical content, Literacy: organization and written presentation of information)
- Given questionnaire worksheet, students will be able to reflect on their opinions and ideas to generate ideas of their own style. (Bloom’s: Evaluate, Standard: Reflect GLE: Reflective strategies are used to understand the creative process, Art Learning: conceptual/ideation/personal grounding, Literacy: written responses)
- Using a digital camera, students will be able to capture 15 different images in their own style to create an interesting photo. (Bloom’s: Create, Standard: Create, GLE: Assess and produce art with various materials and methods, Art Learning: expressive features and characteristics of art)
- Using completed prints, students will be able to interpret each other’s work and discuss artistic decisions. (Bloom’s: Evaluate, Standard: Reflect, GLE: Interpretation is a means for understanding and evaluating works of art. Art Learning: critical reflection/aesthetics/transfer, Literacy: discussion or written critique)
